Calf Length Vintage Style Wedding Dress – Destination Wedding in Italy
Trish and Tony married in September in the stunning village of San Gimignano in Italy. This medieval village is in the heart of the Chianti wine region, the scenery is stunning and the perfect place for a destination wedding. Trish knew she wanted a short wedding dress that would travel well and she found Cutting Edge Brides online. She fell in love with a calf length vintage style wedding dress which looked absolutely stunning on her.
Calf Length Vintage Style Wedding Dress
As the couple were having a destination wedding in Italy, Trish knew she wanted a dress that would travel well. She already favoured a shorter wedding dress style and found our website online. After making her appointment she travelled from Dublin to see our selection of over 150 tea length wedding dresses. She was confident that she’d find the perfect short wedding dress for her destination wedding.
I had always gravitated towards a shorter, vintage style wedding dress. It needed to be travel friendly as the dress was accompanying us on our honeymoon to Sicily!
Trish had already narrowed her choice down to five wedding dresses before the visit and instantly fell in love with a Calf Length Vintage Style Wedding Dress the minute she saw it. Suzanne helped her select an apricot lining as Trish didn’t want a traditional white or ivory coloured dress. Our seamstress also made sure that the minor alterations meant that Trish’s wedding gown fit perfectly on the day. She also made a matching wrap that Trish used at her wedding reception afterwards at the vineyard
Suzanne and the team at Cutting Edge Brides were so helpful and made the experience completely stress free.
The calf length wedding gown has soft off the shoulder capped sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. The ruched chiffon bodice gives way to the full 1950s style organza skirt that moves easily and sways effortlessly. The dress has a slim satin belt with bow detail and the back has button fastened.
I must also extend a special thanks to Krystyna who went above and beyond with alterations.
Trish wore t-bar wedding shoes and carried a hand tied bouquet of bright summer flowers. She wore a jeweled headband to finish and looked elegant and timeless in her short wedding dress. Tony cut a dashing figure in his grey trousers, waistcoat and wore a jazzy bow tie. He had a single rose button hole to match his bride to be.
I felt incredible in my wedding dress – it definitely had the ‘swish’ effect as so many brides with shorter dresses can testify to!
Wedding Day Details
Trish and Tony hired a wedding planner to make sure everything flowed smoothly and it was one of their best decisions. After the wedding ceremony in San Gimignano, Gerard took them to a vineyard overlooking the village and its famous medieval towers, which they hadn’t expected, and shot incredible images. Some tourists spotted them and started singing and clapping. It was a really special moment and left a lasting impression on the couple and their wedding party.
A shorter wedding dress was a huge bonus while having photographs taken at a local vineyard. I wouldn’t have been able to move about so freely
Trish and Tony travelled between venues in style and had a vintage car and driver, Trish had totally confidence her short wedding dress could cope with this. The wedding took place in a medieval courtyard off the Piazza Duomo, adjacent to the Collegiate, in San Gimignano, Tuscany, Italy. Afterwards, they headed to the Tenuta Torciano Winery, a short drive from San Gimignano, for a delicious five-course wedding lunch with wine tasting. The couple had such a memorable day in a beautiful setting and even managed to charm a local in Florence with a nice bottle of Irish Whiskey.
I loved the feel of the dress, it was so easy to move about. This was really important as we did a lot of travelling around on our wedding day.
