Short Satin Wedding Dress

Lizzy & Katy married in August 2022 at Lains Barn, Wantage in Oxfordshire. When Lizzy came to see us she had already been to other wedding dress suppliers. She knew she wanted a short satin wedding dress and found the perfect one in our boutique. All images are from Memory Cake Photography and we can’t wait to share with you today.

Short Satin Wedding Dress

Lizzy already had some idea of what she wanted for her wedding day at her consultation. Her wife to be, Katy, was wearing a longer length dress and they wanted to compliment each other. She felt little out of her depth as she wasn’t as used to wearing dresses and we made sure her consultation was relaxed and calm. There is only one bride in our Bexley Wedding Boutique at a time. This way we can help her find exactly what she wants from our large array of stunning vintage style wedding dresses.

I felt so much more comfortable than in the larger stores I’d looked in. 

So after trying on a few different tea length wedding dresses, Lizzy chose Annette by Loulou Bridal. It had all the elements she wanted including a shorter length so it wasn’t a trip hazard on their wedding day. Annette has an old Hollywood glamorous feel to it, with a satin gathered bodice that is just gently off the shoulder. The back is laced to pull in the ruched satin and create a stunning silhouette. This giveaway to a layered floaty organza full 1950s style skirt that is easy to move in.

I knew I wanted to look at short dresses, because everything I had tried elsewhere didn’t feel like me.

Wedding Dress Alterations

Unfortunately Lizzy and Katy had to postpone their wedding four times due to the pandemic. Krystyna our seamstress made sure that tweaks were made to the tea length wedding dress so it still fit like a glove. 

Krystyna’s adaptations to make sure it fit me after a 2 year delay were brilliant. 

Due to the delays the couple already had a legal ceremony in 2020 with only 15 people. So this time they made sure they had a much more personal ceremony with all their friends and family. Both brides chose handheld bouquets filled with roses. Katy wore a stunning fishtail lace dress and they both had a sprig of gypsophila in their hair. Lizzy chose soft pink heels with a cross over strap to finish her look.

My wife and I had the best day and I loved my tea length wedding dress.
