Short Wedding Dress with Pockets

Lucy and Chris got married in Lambeth Town Hall in Brixton in the Summer. They moved between a few venues and spent the day with close family and friends. Then followed a weekend of celebrations where Lucy got to wear her short wedding dress with pockets for the second time. Lucy opted for a non traditional wedding dress and she looked stunning.

I knew I didn’t want a traditional dress! That’s about all I knew for sure. 

Short Wedding Dress with Pockets

Lucy visited our bexley wedding boutique with her mum, step-mum and best friend to see our designer wedding dresses. They each picked out a tea length wedding dress for Lucy to try and they were impressed with the selection. Our wedding consultant Jamie listened to Lucy’s likes and dislikes from each dress and picked out one that Lucy fell in love with.

Everyone chose a dress for me to try, there were so many to choose from. 

Lucy’s beautiful retro style wedding dress was Ivy Lace by Timeless Chic. The glamorous wedding gown features a sweetheart neckline and cap sleeves. Timeless Chic is our in-house designer wedding dress brand. They are unique to our boutique and can’t be found anywhere else. 

You guys gave me such a fabulously unique dress you deserve recognition for that.

Lucy knew she wanted a vintage style wedding dress that she could move easily in. The couple had planned their wedding around the party venue and slotted everything else in. As they were traveling from venue to venue, Lucy wanted to make sure her wedding dress could cope with the transitions. From the Lambeth Town Hall ceremony they moved onto their lunch venue at a family run Portuguese restaurant. Then they went onto Pop Brixton for drinks and partying.

I wanted something I could jump on and off of the tube in if necessary. 

Her other requirements were that she wanted accents of black throughout so we suggested she have a black bow at the back and she chose black petticoats to finish the look. Her stunning shoes were a pair of black Irregular Choice heels which looked amazing and were perfect with her wedding dress.

Cutting Edge Brides was the only place I could find that had more than 1 or 2 shorter style dresses.

Lucy knew she wanted to have pockets and our seamstress Krystyna added one with a small tailored hole inside so Lucy could pass her insulin pump tubing through to her body, while keeping the pump hidden in the pocket.  At her fitting Lucy who had been apprehensive about the black touches knew she’d made the right choice. It all came together beautifully.

It all felt so personalised, I truly felt special.

Wedding Day Style

Lucy did her own hair and make up on her wedding day and her step dad took most of the photographs to record the day. They encouraged guests to snap their own memories which were uploaded together so everyone could reminisce afterwards. Chris wore a petrol blue suit and teamed it with a teal tie and as the sun shone the couple wore sunglasses and big smiles. 

I felt amazing in my dress and it was so practical with the pockets too! It flared out beautifully especially when spinning and jumping on the dance floor!

Chris and Lucy celebrated again on the Saturday with a party at the Cavendish Arms in Stockwell. This quirky pub and function room showcased the couples Rock band and Lucy danced the night away in her vintage style wedding dress. They had pizza, fries and cupcakes to finish their celebrations off. The whole weekend was so special for the couple and they had their favourite people all in one place. The amazing weather and the Brixton vibe pulled it all together perfectly.

I got to wear my dress all over again!
