Lace High Low Wedding Dress
Rosie and Robert got married in September 2022 at Sandhole Oak Barn in Congleton, Cheshire. This magical rural setting allowed the couple to have the unique wedding they craved. The venue has converted its farmhouse and stables into accommodation so family and friends could stay too. Rosie wore a stunning High low wedding dress on the day.
The whole experience was great, from the first time I tried on dresses, to the final alterations and picking up the dress.
High Low Wedding Dress
When Rosie visited our Bexley Wedding Boutique she had some ideas of what she wanted. She is quite small and needed something that didn’t swamp her frame or was heavy to wear. She tried a couple of short wedding dresses but didn’t fall in love with any. Then her mum spotted the perfect wedding gown. As soon as she tried the high low wedding dress she knew it was the one for her.
I always knew I wanted a short wedding dress, [] I’m much more comfortable in a short 50’s style dress.
We concentrate on one bride in our boutique at a time for a fun and relaxed consultation. Brides can try on a few tea length wedding dresses before finding the one. Rosie thought she wanted a short 1950s style wedding dress but left with the most amazing high low wedding dress.
The shop is beautiful, and the fact that it’s a small 1-2-1 session makes it so much more special.
Rosie chose a pretty lace and tulle vintage style wedding dress with a sweetheart neckline and spaghetti straps. The lace detail starts on the bodice of the wedding dress and cascades down onto the soft tulle. The back has a deep v and zip detail and the sweeping train falls longer at the back.
Suzanne was so patient as we kept trying different styles, she really listened to what I was saying and altered our search based on it.
Rosie decided she really wanted to make her one of a kind wedding dress extra special. As well as a few minor alterations from our wonderful seamstress, she wore a 15 layer underskirt. It was heavier than the short wedding dress but it really added the wow factor.
I can’t imagine wearing anything else, it was perfect for the venue, and completely threw off my now husband, who was expecting a short dress.
Rosie found the advantage of having a high low wedding dress was that she could move around easily. She didn’t have to worry about people stepping on the front and she got to show off her gorgeous shoes. The shorter front and longer train at the back gave the illusion of a full dress. Rosie had the added option of being able to button up the full skirt to dance the night away.
With it being short at the front with a long train, it was great for showing off my shoes
She wore her hair up with a hairpiece she’d made especially for the wedding day and added a veil. Rosie carried a sunny hand tied bouquet with roses and gerberas. Her white heels peeked out from under the high low hem. The bridesmaids complimented her in pretty tulle blue dresses. Robert chose a light blue three piece suit and his buttonhole was a yellow rose.
Wedding Day Details
The couple chose a fun theme of the beach and used subtle hints to pull it all together. They made reception decorations themselves such as the seashell hair piece, Rosie’s garter and their wildflower seed paper invitations. This brought a lovely intimate feel to the day for the couple.
The family also travelled in style with some amazing looking cars. The gold beetle is Rosie’s, the orange Campervan is her mum’s, and the white Honda is Roberts. Their entertainment was an amazing steel drum band that didn’t disappoint and kept everyone entertained.
Although it’s the complete opposite of what I had pictured myself wearing, I couldn’t have asked for anything more perfect.
