City of London Wedding and a Ballerina Length Wedding Dress
Lindsay and Joe got married in July at The Old Finsbury Town Hall in the heart of Islington. Being fans of 1950 and 60’s music and fashion, the couple knew theirs would be a retro wedding. Lindsay visited us and chose a stunning ballerina length wedding dress for her wedding day. We’d love to share the details of their day below.
Ballerina Length Wedding Dress
Lindsay already knew she wanted a vintage style wedding dress but favoured the longer lengths. So after looking on the Cutting Edge Brides website she had found six ballerina length wedding dress designs that she wanted to try at her boutique appointment. Part of our services is making sure that every bride tries on exactly the styles she likes and each bride has exclusive access to the boutique for their appointment. We also listen and offer advice and show complimentary wedding gowns.
I didn’t look anywhere other than Cutting Edge Brides, as I knew I would find one there
This was the case for Lindsay and we showed her a vintage style wedding dress that had arrived the day before. We hadn’t even put it on the website yet and once Lindsay tried it she knew it was the dress for her. Cilla by Loulou Bridal is a beautiful v neck silk organza wedding dress with a pretty flower print design running the length of it. The pleated bodice gives way to a full 1950s style skirt that swayed as Lindsay moved.
It fitted me perfectly and I took it with me that day. The whole experience was just amazing!
Retro Wedding Day
Lindsay wore her ballerina length wedding dress with a vintage style short veil which showed the button detail at the back of the dress too. Every short wedding dress is packed full of stunning features. Also this length of short wedding gown meant that she could show off her wonderful satin block heel wedding shoes to full effect.
I felt absolutely wonderful wearing my dress. It was really flattering. It was comfortable to wear. Most importantly, I could dance easily!
With her hair up in a cute 50s style beehive and carrying a bouquet of roses, Lindsay looked every inch the retro bride. Joe wore a dapper 1960’s style pinstripe blue suit and complemented this with a bright yellow shirt and jazzy tie.
The fashion and music of the 1950 and 1960s is important to the couple (Joe used to be in a Beatles tribute band called Them Beatles) so having something that complemented Lindsay’s vintage style ballerina length wedding dress was a must.
With their love of all things retro, the couple decided on a pink Cadillac to transport them in style which made a fun addition to their day. Their wedding meal was a traditional pie and mash and they danced the night away at their reception.
