A Vintage Style Lace Wedding Dress in London
Lucy and James got married in June 2021 at Chelsea Old Town Hall. They had their reception at The Orange public House and Hotel in Pimlico. With such Iconic wedding venues, Lucy knew her tea length wedding dress needed to be show stopping. So she chose a lace vintage style wedding dress and we’ve got all the details below.
Choosing a Short Wedding Dress
Lucy and James got engaged in January during lockdown and Lucy set to work looking for ideas online. Knowing she’d have to wait until April to try any short wedding dresses, it was a race against the clock. She fell in love with one of our calf length wedding dresses on the website. After making her appointment at our Bexley boutique she made a beeline for Dora by Loulou Bridal. Lucy did try on another dress but she still felt drawn to Dora. It’s a beautiful tea length wedding dress covered in pretty lace with a high neck and half sleeves. The stunning lace back of the dress has a button detail fastening.Loulou Bridal specialise in stunning vintage inspired bridal gowns in light and floaty material.
I actually saw my dress on the cutting edge brides website during lockdown and after visiting it many times I knew it was the one I loved. The dress was there ready for me to try on and it looked fabulous.
Finishing Touches to a Vintage Style Wedding Dress
At the appointment, Suzanne added a sparkly sash and a blue petticoat to complete the dress for Lucy. Alterations were needed to take the dress in and Lucy too the dress home within two weeks. Our seamstress Krystna did such a fabulous job on the alterations and Lucy felt fabulous in the dress.
I loved wearing a short wedding dress and to be honest at 5 foot one it was the perfect dress for me.
Lucy wore her hair in a low bun with a short wedding veil which gave a timeless look. She carried a hand tied bouquet of summer blooms. Her stunning Rainbow Club shoes were on show under her tea length wedding dress. At one point Lucy wasn’t sure she’d get to wear them as she injured her ankle only a month before. But luckily that all healed in time for her to show off the shoes with her tea length wedding dress.
James wore a classic petrol coloured three piece suit and teamed it with a dark blue tie and tan shoes. His buttonhole was a single rose to match Lucy’s wonderful flowers.
Wedding Day Style
The couple travelled from the registry office to the reception on an open top vintage London bus. When they came down the stairs all the guests noticed Lucy’s pretty blue petticoats. This became a wonderful talking point for the couples guests. Using petticoats can add volume and a bit of fun to a lace vintage style wedding dress.
Everyone commended on my beautiful wedding dress
Having decided on their wedding song the day before, they nearly missed having a first dance. All in all they had a lovely wedding day with family and friends around them.
The day went very well and a great day was had by all.
