Vintage Style Wedding Gown with Sleeves

AIiee and Louis got married in June 2021 at Hodsock Priory in Blyth, North Nottinghamshire. They’d been planning their big day for almost two and a half years with guests coming from all over the UK. Fortunately the timing of their day meant that some of the restrictions that we’ve all been under were lifted and the wedding day went ahead as planned. Ailee wore a stunning vintage style wedding gown with sleeves.

We loved the beautiful gardens and the grandeur of the venue, everything is ornate and exquisite

The Venue

Hodsock Prior is a historic country house wedding venue set in 800 acres of countryside. The couple were able to have some stunning images captured in the beautiful grounds too.

The venue was exclusive to our party for the whole day which was important to us too 

The Dress

The couple have a love of all things retro so the tea length wedding gown with sleeves was perfect. The beautiful lace bodice flows into lightweight lace three quarter length sleeves. This is perfect for the great British summer weather.  The lace detail continues on the 1950s style full skirt which showed off Ailee’s bespoke Mary Jane shoes. These had been hand painted exclusively by Sophie at Elizabeth & Rose London

I always knew I wanted a tea length dress. It is my sort of style and I felt elegant and comfortable, I was able to walk around all day without feeling restricted.

Ailee chose Polly which is a 1950s inspired tea length wedding dress with sleeves by Timeless Chic. She was looking specifically for vintage style tea length wedding dresses so already had an idea of what she wanted. Due to restrictions at the time, she wasn’t able to visit us at Cutting Edge Brides personally. We sent sample short wedding dresses directly to her so she was able to make her choice.

On The Day

The day was captured by the couples photographer Nyssa at Define me Photography.

Ailee carried a stunning bouquet of blooms which included striking sunflowers and cream roses. Her bridesmaids carried a simpler bouquet of blooms which complimented their vibrant coloured long dresses. Louis wore a grey three piece suit with a lilac tie and a single rose buttonhole to compliment his bride.

All in all it was an absolutely wonderful day,  we would do it all again if we could 

It was truly a family affair with lots of the details being taken care of by loved ones. The table flowers and bridesmaid bouquets were made by a neighbour. The cake was from a family friend as were the bridal buttonholes. This made it extra special for Ailee and Louis that there were so many personal touches.

Ailee arrived in a Camper Van with her father and her bridesmaids went in the Daimler. The couple also had a vintage scooter procession courtesy of Ailee’s Dad’s friends the “Donny Hunters” who stayed for photos.

Everything went smoothly and all guests enjoyed it, lots of happy memories!
