A Satin and Lace Short Wedding Gown and a Wedding in a Museum
Felicity & Brad got married in November 2020, during Lockdown in Brooklands Museum, Webridge, Surrey. Both the wedding and reception were held at the Clubhouse at the Museum. The couple had moved their wedding a couple of times already and after a few devastating cancellations they finally, at short notice decided to go for it. We are so pleased to share with you their wedding day. Felicity chose a satin and lace short wedding gown.
Satin and Lace Short Wedding Gown
Felicity knew she wanted to wear a 1950s style short wedding gown that was something just a little extra. She was also very keen to have a wedding dress that had some colour incorporated into it.

I was looking for a wedding dress in a 50s style, but something that looked really special, and not like a 50s dress I might wear on a night out.
Our bride tried on several tea length wedding dresses and we made suggestions for her to try. The actual short wedding gown she finally chose wasn’t the one initially for her (although her bridesmaid knew it was perfect). As it was Ivory satin with Ivory lace, Felicity at first discounted it but after discussing her options she realised it was the one for her.
Something that was definitely a wedding dress but not too traditionally bridal. I was hoping to incorporate either red or black into the dress.
When I first saw my dress at my first fitting I fell completely in love with it! It was absolutely perfect, even better than I imagined.
Short Wedding Dress Details
The tea length wedding dress that Felicity chose was from British designer Lois Wild. The gorgeous Satin and Lace short wedding gown has applique lace trailing across the bodice. The mikado fabric sits beautifully and moves easily and has a plunge v neckline. The lace starts across the fitted bodice and gently spirals around to the back of the dress. It is ballerina length so sways beautifully with each and every movement.
As Felicity wanted a tea length wedding dress with colour, she was excited to learn that the lace could be added in a different colour. As she originally wanted red and black incorporated into her wedding day, Felicity chose black lace. This created a stunning show stopping look that was totally unique to her. She carried a bouquet of artificial red roses and wore a birdcage veil clip. She finished the look by wearing some black shoes with red heart embellishments. Brad wore a black suit and had a matching red rose buttonhole and wore two tone Oxford brogues.
Once I realised I could have the lace in black I was sold. Sara and Suzanne went out of their way to make sure I could have the dress I wanted, contacting the designer who suggested some slightly different lace, which was absolutely lovely.
Wedding Day Details
As the couple had their wedding in a museum it was ideal that Felicity chose a shorter wedding dress, as she was able to even get into the cockpit of a Concorde which the Museum opened especially for them. They had family and friends joining them via livestream due to the limitation of a lockdown wedding day. Most of their suppliers and venue could make the changes they needed to make the day perfect.
Having a shorter dress on my wedding day was ideal as I could walk (or even run!) around our venue with ease.
The couple were married on their third wedding date after planning to get married in early April. Unfortunately that date had to be moved due to lockdown, so they moved it to later in the year but again sadly it looked like it would be cancelled. On the spur of the moment, Felicity and Brad decided to try and bring their wedding forward by a few days. Amazingly, although stressful, the couple managed to pull out all the stops and get married.
The day went brilliantly, full of love and smiles. We had an amazing day, and my dress made me feel wonderful all day!
