Kaylee and Yousif - Cutting Edge Brides

A Tulle Dream Short Wedding Dress and a Registry Office in Kent

Kaylee and Yousif married during Lockdown on 31st October this year in Dartford, Kent. The ceremony was in The Manor Gatehouse, Dartford and reception for 15 at the Star, Sidcup Place. The couple had planned a totally different day but it was changed due to Covid19 so they decided to get married locally instead. Kaylee still got to wear her dream short wedding dress on the day.

My husband kept telling me I looked beautiful and he is never very emotional! He also said “I do” too quickly when saying our vows which made everyone laugh.

A Tulle Dream Short Wedding Dress

Kaylee had tried on more traditional style wedding dresses but realised quite quickly that she wanted a non traditional style wedding dress. So she spotted a couple of tea length wedding dresses she liked on our website and booked her appointment.

Cutting Edge Brides - real couple

I originally thought I would want a full length dress but after trying some on, I knew that it wasn’t for me. I didn’t feel like a beautiful bride in any and they didn’t compliment my figure.

We started with finding the short wedding dresses that Kaylee had already seen and she tried those on. In our Bexley Wedding Boutique we make sure that each bride has our individual attention (you’ll be the only bride to be present at your appointment) so as Kaylee found out, she was able to try as many wedding gowns as she wanted.

Suzanne was so helpful in finding the dresses I’d bookmarked from the website and others in a similar style and I fell in love with my dress as soon as I tried it on!

Saying Yes to The Dream Short Wedding Dress

After trying a few different styles of vintage style wedding dresses, Kaylee found her dream short wedding dress. We added some petticoats to enhance the 1950s style skirt and it really brought it to life for our bride to be.

It was the first I tried and when I added the petticoat too, I loved it even more. I tried on others but knew that was the one.

Kaylee chose Polly by Timeless Chic which is a gorgeous Tulle tea length wedding dress.  The fitted bodice is covered with delicate Appliqué lace that flows down the three quarter length sleeves and onto the tulle skirt. The waist has a large satin band that compliments the Tulle.

Suzanne and the seamstress were both so friendly, helpful and put me at ease straight away.

Timeless Chic is our signature in-house designer wedding dress range and isn’t available in any other wedding boutiques. Designed for the modern bride with elements taken from 1950s and 60s fashion, these unique wedding dresses are feminine and stunning.

I felt that it really complimented my figure, gave me a waist and most importantly the most spectacular twirl!

Our designs have featured on ‘Don’t Tell the Bride’ and been written about on the best wedding blogging sites. We pride ourselves on making sure each short wedding dress is expertly and lovingly hand-finished.

I also loved that it looked different to what most people go for – a full-length dress with a train.

The Wedding Details

Kaylee chose a pair of open toe heels (similar to the ones she tried on in the boutique when she found her vintage style wedding dress. She had her hair loosely tied back with some gorgeous gypsophilia and carried a classic all white full bloom bouquet. She matched her full peticoats in ivory to her dress, this gave the skirt a stunning fullness and also gives a wow factor spin.

After having had negative experiences elsewhere, I was so happy to walk away after my first visit having purchased my dream dress.

Yousif wore a navy suit with a green tie and had a complimentary buttonhole.  As it was a lock-down wedding, the couple, although it was difficult, made the decision to reduce their wedding down to only 15 people. The wedding party also needed to wear face masks during the ceremony which made it a unique wedding experience for them all.

On the day, nothing else mattered though – even though we only had 15 guests, what mattered is I was marrying the love of my life and felt beautiful in my dress.
