Short Notice Wedding – a Ballerina Length Wedding Dress

Today we’ve got a beautiful Lake District wedding for you. Our couple Alex and Rachael married in January in the stunning Lake District. Rachael chose a ballerina length wedding dress for their big day.  They had a dream location of Low Wood Bay Hotel which sits on the edge of Lake Windemere.

Short Notice Wedding

The couple had to move quick when a date became available at their gorgeous spa hotel venue. With five months to plan their wedding, they concentrated on the important aspects of their day.

We planned our wedding in 5 months on a budget. I had the dream venue but got a last minute date in January. I didn’t mind his as I wanted to get married where I grew up in the lake district and you cannot rely on summer wedding so why not!

When Rachael came to Cutting Edge Brides boutique, she already knew she loved short wedding dresses. With a short time to plan, she concentrated on finding a wedding dress with minimal changes required.

The dress that captured Rachael’s heart was Betsy by Timeless Chic. This is one of our in-house designer wedding dress brands. Ballerina Length Wedding Dress

Betsy is a satin wedding dress with a gathered bodice that flows into a full 1950’s style skirt. Rachael chose a calf length wedding dress which is such a flattering length, it gives the feel of a vintage style wedding dress with a longer full skirt. This still has all the advantages of a tea length wedding dress, it’s easy to move in and more importantly…dance in.

The bride chose a stunning birdcage veil with feathers. This beautiful and classic look was finished with a glittery belt and a simple pearl necklace. Her gorgeous shoes enhanced the look completely.

I knew I loved short dresses! As a size 16 who recently had a baby I didn’t want anything tight but this style dress was so flattering I felt beautiful in it

Alex wore a navy three piece suit, green tie and pocket swatch and wore a single rose button hole. Their beautiful daughter and flower girl wore a green tutu. This complimented Rachael’s bouquet of roses and foliage which was tied with a ribbon.

My husband had said he didn’t like short wedding dresses before the wedding but he loved this one, the ballerina length made it still feel elegant enough for the venue and showed off my pink glittery Jimmy Choo’s.

 Planning in Five Months

With every wedding there are the most important things that couples want. Having to plan a wedding day in five months really honed this list for this couple.  They concentrated on making sure their guests were looked after and having fun.

I have not seen hardly any brides in a ballerina length dress so although my dress was plain (which I like in wedding dresses) it still felt unique
