1950s Short Wedding Dress

Steph sent us some fantastic images from her wonderful wedding day that we just had to share. Wearing a 1950s short wedding dress with lots of well thought out details to go along side, this is a wonderful wedding. Steph and Harry married in Layer Marney Tower in Essex. They had their ceremony and reception in this stunning Tudor Gatehouse overlooking the Essex countryside. The gorgeous images were taken by Katy Winterflood Photophraphy and Stephanie sent them over to us.

The bride wore the beautiful Demi by True Bride on her wedding day. This show stopping tulle wedding dress has lots of sparkling details. With lots of delicate beading and crystals, this 1950s style wedding dress catches the light and twinkles. With an amazing illusion neckline and cap sleeves all the way to the full tulle skirt, this is a very retro style wedding dress. Steph decided to incorporate more of the lace around the neckline and back of the dress to make it totally bespoke.

“I knew I wanted a short length dress before I started looking and found Cutting Edge as they were noted as the specialist in this length”

Demi from the Brighton Belle collection by True Bride bridal is a nude tulle retro wedding dress. The stunning illusion neckline and delicate cap sleeves makes this a real showstopper. The pleated waistband leads to a full tulle fifties style skirt which gives this dress a vintage feel. The button trim on the zip up sheer back finishes the look.

“I have to give a big shout out to their seamstress, who did a great deal of work on the dress as I have a short upper body and also added extra lace to further personalise the dress”

“I would highly recommend anyone considering a shorter length dress”

Steph likes the 1950s style so followed through this theme with her pin up hairstyle. She went for a modern pair of retro looking shoes and wore a gorgeous pair of bow fronted white wedding shoes by Irregular Choice. She changed into some flat shoes later in the day which also complimented her short wedding dress. This is why a 1950s short wedding dress is a fantastic choice, you never have to worry if you are wearing the right height of shoe as anything goes.

The couple have a ginger cat and were lucky to be visited by the venues ginger tom on the day. The couple are big football fans and incorporated their team colours into their wedding day. The bouquet was claret and blue and so were the button holes. As season ticket holders for West Ham they wanted to honour the club by choosing bubbles instead of traditional confetti. It is these small details that make their wedding day so special.

“My experience of Cutting Edge Brides was faultless.”

Harry wore a dark lounge suit which he matched with a claret tie to compliment their theme for the day. The couple chose a vintage car and there was a lovely retro feel to the day with a modern edge.

It is always a great idea to theme your wedding around a love you have. As Steph and Harry have demonstrated, this can be incorporated into your wedding day in subtle ways. A 1950s style short wedding dress is versatile enough to fit into other themes you have without overwhelming the day.
