The Dress Code for you Vintage Style Wedding Dress
Alongside choosing your vintage style wedding dress and your wedding party outfits, it’s also good to think about what you would like your wedding aesthetics to be. Advising your guests on what type of attire you would prefer them to wear is a consideration. Remember though that a stiff dress code may put some guests off as they don’t have this style of outfit. So be prepared for this when laying out certain dress codes and give guests plenty of notice.
Here are some of the most common dress attires and what they mean for your guests.
Black Tie
Black tie is one of the better known dress codes. For women this is a formal dress or evening gown and men it’s a crisp white dress shirt with a black bow tie and dinner jacket. This is a popular choice and if ‘black tie optional’ then men can also choose a dark suit and tie instead.
White Tie
The most formal of attires, white tie (also referred to as tails, dress suit or full evening dress). For men this is a formal white shirt, white waistcoat and white bow tie. The tailcoat is black and the whole look is very formal. For women it’s slightly easier as both dressy cocktail dresses and long gowns are acceptable.
Cocktail
This one is still formal but for women it’s usually a dress that isn’t full length. It’s also not too revealing and it’s where the clutch bag is in its best setting. For men it would include a dark suit, dress shirt and muted complimentary tie.
Smart Casual
As our tea length wedding dresses look great in any setting, you may want your guests feeling comfortable. For men this type of dress code means a shirt and trousers and for women nothing too over the top but still smart.
Themed
For this one it may be tricky for your guests to gauge so spell it out. Give them plenty of notice and point them in the direction of what you’d like to achieve for the day. This can look really great in photographs but remember your guests may have had to travel and spend on attending so don’t put too much pressure on them or yourselves.

Your vintage style wedding dress sets the tone for the day so think about what you want. The great thing is whatever type of short wedding dress you choose its so versatile.
