A Wedding in Dorset – Vintage Style tea length dress & afternoon tea
Beth and Matt’s Wedding Day in was in Lyme Regis, Dorset in August 2020. They got married at Lyme Regis Guildhall. This is a wonderful seaside venue with views of the west bay. Having already been inspired to wear a vintage style tea length dress, Beth chose to wear a beautiful short wedding dress on the day. The images were taken by Katia Marsh Photography.
A Vintage Style Tea Length Dress
Beth traveled from Dorset for her appointment to try on tea length wedding dresses, both her mum and her mum’s best friends own weddings dictated her style choice. Beth knew that she wanted a classic vintage style wedding dress for her big day too.
When I was a little girl I used to pour over my Mother’s photos from her own Wedding and some of her as a bridesmaid at her best friend’s Wedding.
She had picked a couple of short wedding dress styles that she liked from our website. Our consultant Jaimie suggested another dress that would look good on her and that was it, the perfect wedding dress was found!
When I put it on, I literally knew it was the one! I tried other beautiful dresses but couldn’t get ‘Carrie’ out of my mind!
Beth chose Carrie by Loulou bridal which is a gorgeous satin tea length wedding dress. Loulou create stunning vintage style tea length dresses that fit in the modern day easily. Using light and floaty fabrics that move easily and a gorgeous fit that will leave any bride feeling on top of the world.
With a stunning off the shoulder neckline that is eye catching and the fitted bodice is elegant and timeless. The full 1950s style skirt falls gently and moves easily.
Jaimie cleverly and skillfully packaged the dress for me in order that I could take it home there and then!
As she now lived further away from London, Beth decided to take her wedding dress home on the day. This was a stroke of luck as a few weeks later the country went into lock down. The couples wedding day also had to be moved by a couple of weeks so that they could still work with their suppliers. Beth found a local seamstress who amended the petticoats slightly so that the dress wasn’t as full.
The Wedding Reception
Due to pandemic restrictions, the couple were unable to have a proper wedding reception so instead opted for an intimate Afternoon Tea at the Alexandra Hotel over looking the sea in Lyme with just immediate family. Lots of day trippers and locals gave their well wishes as the couple had pictures taken around the seafront.
The fact that we were small in number but big in love and laughter on the day will always remain with us.
Beth carried a hand tied bouquet full of summer blooms and wore a flower in her loosely gathered hair. Her classic style Mary Jane heels fitted with the overall look perfectly. Matt wore a three piece check suit.
I can’t really put into words how pleased I was with my choice of dress. I felt a million dollars in it on the day and it was exactly how I envisaged it to look and feel.
