A Mexican Destination Wedding & a Bride in Tulle

Claire and Sam jetted off to their wedding in Mexico for a sunshine chilled vibe. The couple had their wedding arranged by the Hotel and a wedding planner so they could just have a relaxed wedding by the sea. Claire had know for a long time that she wanted a short wedding dress so it was no surprise that she came to Cutting Edge Brides. So we hope their wedding makes you feel as relaxed as they did on their Mexican destination wedding.

Having seen our bridal boutique on ‘Don’t Tell the Bride’ Claire knew she’d pay us a visit once engaged. She arrived with her mum and sister in law for her appointment. Claire had an idea of what she liked, having seen a few dresses on our website.  She originally wanted a strapless short wedding dress to keep her cool. Once she tried a few dresses she realised she preferred cap sleeved tea length wedding dresses.

I have always wanted a short wedding dress and I saw Cutting Edge Brides on ‘Don’t Tell the Bride’

She tried around 15 vintage style wedding dresses. The wedding gown that stole Claire’s heart in the end was Barbara by Timeless Chic. It is a beautiful and chic tea length vintage inspired short wedding dress. The lace bodice has stunning cap sleeves that are very flattering. The lace carries onto the back and into a flattering v neck. It then flows out into a wonderfully light 1950’s style tulle skirt.

As I was getting married abroad I thought I might want a strapless dress to stay cool but in the end I preferred the dresses with capped sleeves.

With over 150 designer short wedding dresses to choose from, it’s sometimes difficult to choose your favourite. Claire narrowed her search down to two beautiful short wedding dresses.  We strive to make sure that you find your perfect tea length wedding dress without pressure. 

Suzanne was also very helpful with her opinions and picked out a couple of dresses which she thought would suit me that I might not necessarily have noticed myself.

Adding different embellishments, sashes or petticoats can really transform a vintage style wedding dress. Claire had to choose between two dresses but adding a sash to one made the decision for her. With just 12 weeks until her big day no alterations were needed and the wedding gown fitted perfectly.

I absolutely loved choosing my dress at Cutting Edge Bride, it was such a special day! 

All The Details

The couple got married in the gardens of the Riu Tequila in Playacar Mexico. With all the details being taken care of a few months before their big day, Claire and Sam just needed to stay chilled. Claire spent a relaxed morning sipping Pina Colada’s by the pool with friends chatting and reading until it was time to get ready.

Claire kept her overall look very classic with her hair in a low chignon bun and fastened with a sparkly clip. Her beautiful flowers were a hand tied collection of sunflowers and Gypsophila and her shoes were pretty white high heel sandals.

Sam wore a shirt and navy trousers and had a single button hole sunflower which complemented the bride to be perfectly.

I think a shorter wedding dress is perfect for a wedding abroad as well, not only because hey are less heavy, but you also get to show off your tanned legs!

The newly weds chose to have their wedding breakfast in the Mexican restaurant right on the beach. This continued the chilled vibe they were after and they managed to have a fun filled wedding with those they loved around them.

The whole day was perfect and it was made even more perfect by my beautiful dress.
