Real Brides – The Perfect Short Wedding Dress as a New Mum
The Perfect Short Wedding Dress as a New Mum
Laura and John married in May this year at South Farm which is surrounded by 20 acres of stunning grounds in Hertfordshire. The farm dates back to 16th Century Tudor times so offers some rich history to every event. Voyteck Photography took the joyful images that we are sharing and read how Laura found the perfect short wedding dress as a new mum.
Laura wore the gorgeous Joanne by Timeless Chic on her special day. With it’s classic satin v neck this is an elegant choice for any bride. Having only had their gorgeous little girl seven months earlier, the bride to be was still getting used to her changed body shape. So she wanted to find a dress that was flattering and comfortable on her wedding day.
“I always knew I wanted a short wedding dress”
She added a showstopping pair of Rachel Simpson shoes to her outfit in nude. They are vintage style with a modern twist and really compliments the dress and adds to an overall elegant feel. We are stockists of Rachel Simpson shoes and you can find more details on our blog.
“I wanted something really quite plain, elegant and classic, and I wanted to look like me and not feel self conscious”
Just look at these amazing little shoes that their daughter had for the wedding day, utterly delightful. The finer detail of things help to bring a whole wedding day together from the amazing decorations to the flowers. There were some gorgeous details on Laura and John’s wedding day that made it a truly magical day.
“I wear a lot of knee-length dresses, as I find them comfortable and flattering, with very light makeup, and I wanted a similar look for my wedding day.”
“I also wanted to feel comfortable and not get too hot!”
Laura wore her hair up on the day with flowers that matched her bouquet. This showed off the deep satin V neck and button detail down the back of the dress. This style is also great for the time of year, as it helps keep the bride cool on sunny days. The full skirt was accentuated with petticoats to allow the dress to have the classic 1950s swing to it.
“It might sound odd but I really didn’t want to command a lot of attention with a ‘look at me’ princess-style dress and heavy hair and makeup.”
“I found my dress quite easily, but it needed quite a few alterations in the weeks before the wedding till I felt happy with it.”
“Suzanne was amazing and reassuring as we were still changing it up until a week before the big day!”
Laura gave herself plenty of time as a bride to get used to her short wedding dress. She knew that the vintage style dress was the one for her but she wanted to feel at her most comfortable on her wedding day so wanted to get it exactly right. This really was a wedding dress of dreams for a new mum, she looked absolutely stunning.
“I got so many positive comments about my dress, and people said it was really me”
