7 Top Tips for Perfect Wedding Stationery

  • It is a good idea to request a sample wedding invitation or save the date card before you commit to ordering. Even if there is a small charge for this service, it is the best way to see the quality, materials and exact colours before payment.

  • If you have seen some extravagant invitations that are exactly what you want but need to make your budget stretch, make your money go further by ordering them just for your wedding day guests. Then choose a simpler, matching invitation for your evening guests.

  • Don’t feel as though you have to include a map to show the location of your venue. Most guests will just look for a simple postcode to enter into their Sat Navs or smartphones.

  •  Don’t feel awkward about sending gift poems with your invitations to ask guests for money if this is what you want. These have become so popular that guests rarely see this as cheeky and your stationer may have a selection for you to choose from.

Check and check again

  • It may seem obvious but double check wording that you’ve chosen. Get a second person to do this as well before you send it to your stationer to be printed.

  • If you want to send Save the Dates to your evening guests, consider having the main title as ‘Save the Evening’ or something similar. This ensures nobody unnecessarily books any time off or cancels other daytime plans.

  • If you want a child free wedding then now is the time to say. As well as addressing the invitations with only the names of adults, your stationer will be able to suggest a few polite, light-hearted words asking that children don’t attend.
